Baby Sitter Rescues 2-Year-Old, 5-Year-Old (Colorado)
A family that lost its home in the large Castle West Apartment fire in Colorado Springs in January 2007 has been burned out of its home again. Lacey and Joe Stahl were living in a home on Monteagle Street in Colorado Springs until it caught on fire Wednesday. According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, a baby sitter rushed the couple's 2-year-old son and 5-year-old daughter out of the house after flames engulfed the back porch.

After a Smithfield father was allowed supervised visitation with his three children last week, both sides in a federal lawsuit asked to postpone a Wednesday hearing scheduled to address custody issues. The father, identified as John Doe in a suit filed last week in Pittsburgh, sued Fayette County Children and Youth Services and agency director David Madison. In the suit, filed by attorneys for the American Civil Liberties Union, Doe claimed that the agency had no right to remove his children - ages 5, 6 and 8 - from him in 2006. The agency did so after a report that the man, now 29, was having sex with a 16-year-old who sometimes was the children's babysitter.

Babysitter's Boyfriend Gets Triple Life Sentence for Killing 8 year old (RI)
Joshua Davis, the Woonsocket man who raped and killed 8-year-old Savannah Smith in 2006, will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole. That was the murder sentence handed down Wednesday by Providence County Superior Court Judge Gilbert V. Indeglia, who also sentenced Davis to life imprisonment for first-degree child molestation and life imprisonment for kidnapping, with all three sentences to be served consecutively.
