Sister and Nursing Student Save Boy
A 3-year-old Ohio boy nearly drowned at the Lakewood subdivision’s pool about 2 p.m. today when his babysitter walked away to smoke a cigarette, fire officials said.
Chief David Downie credited quick action by the boy’s older sister and a nursing student for saving the boy’s life.

Nearly 6,000 people have signed a petition supporting stiffer penalties for people convicted of killing children.
Family members of 17-month-old Taegen McKinney, who was allegedly stomped to death by her babysitter's boyfriend April 14, recently created the petition in hopes it may spawn new state legislation, McKinney's grandmother, Sherry Pinasco, said. (Click here to continue reading this story.)
