Babysitter Charged With Felony Neglect
One 3-year-old boy riding a bicycle weaved in and out of traffic while being chased by adults trying to stop him Monday on North Tennessee Boulevard, a Murfreesboro Police officer reported.A witness told police she saw the child almost struck by oncoming traffic, Officer David Blackwell reported.Police rescued the child and charged sleeping babysitter Douglas Wayne Brown, 27, of 1524 Rochester Drive with felony child abuse and neglect, the officer reported. Baby Death Jury Can't Decide
Over the past two months, a Placer County jury has heard two very different explanations of what happened to 15-month-old Hannah Rose Juceam. Prosecutors used medical experts and testimony from the dead girl's parents to point the finger at defendant Veronica Martinez Salcedo, the 36-year-old nanny accused of violently shaking Hannah, causing her death.
Following three days of deliberations in Auburn last week, the jurors sent word to Judge Robert P. McElhany that they were deadlocked. (Read More.)
