Trial Begins in Death of Baby Left at LIRR Station
Long Island Rail Road conductor Joseph Maldari testified about a morning last year where he found in a cardboard shoe box, was a newborn child lying face-down amid tissues and other trash.
Prosecutors said in opening statements that Irma Stephens, who worked six days a week as a live-in nanny in Woodbury, never intended to keep her baby. She told no one she was pregnant and bought no baby clothes or diapers before the birth. (Read More).
