Court Reverses Babysitter's Conviction in Infant's Death
A state appeals court has reversed the conviction of a 37-year-old woman in the death of a baby she was caring for at her home six years ago. Stephanie Bartok of Gillespie had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 8-month-old Andrew Hostettler. But Macoupin County Circuit Judge Joseph Koval ruled in December 2005 that the babysitter was guilty of a lesser charge, involuntary manslaughter.
