Babysitter Accused of Abusing 4-Month-Old
LYNN, Mass. -- A babysitter is accused of shaking a 4-month-old baby boy until his brain bled. The baby's mother said her child was calm and smiling when she dropped him off at her babysitter's, Betsy Mira, apartment at 8 a.m. on November 28.

A nanny accused of shaking an infant so severely he suffered blindness posted a $20,000 cash bond Thursday and was freed from jail. Rebecca L. Harris, 21, of O'Fallon, Mo., is charged with second-degree assault in what authorities said was the shaking of 4-month-old Kaleb Wakefield at the baby's home in St. Peters on Oct. 26.

From what I have observed, our justice system does not value the lives of our children. The punishment handed down to those convicted of child abuse is a joke. A slap on the hand, at the most. It's shameful.
