Two Year Old Found Wandering
A local woman spotted and followed a toddler walking alone on 13th Avenue Southwest at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday. The two-year-old girl had reportedly walked away from her babysitter, who was taking care of several children at the child’s nearby home.According to police, Heather Biwer, of Austin, said she was driving down 13th Avenue with her daughter when she saw a young child walking alone. She followed the child several blocks to the 500 block of 13th Avenue, and then asked her daughter to walk with the child as Biwer called police.Police arrived and saw a nearby home with strollers in the lawn. They knocked on the door of the home in the 500 block 13th Avenue Southwest and got no response. Police said they were then about to take the child to the law enforcement center when her aunt arrived. The woman said she was stopping by to check in with the toddler’s cousin, who was babysitting several children at the residence. The cousin was then reached by phone, and reported that she’d been bottle feeding an infant when she saw the toddler walk upstairs with her doll. About 10 minutes later, the cousin said she went upstairs to check on her and couldn’t locate her. The toddler was released to the care of her aunt. Police said the incident has been reported to health and human services. (Source Austin Daily Herald, MN)
