Former Denver-Area Nanny Accused of Killing Own Son
A mother who who had worked as a nanny in Denver has been arrested in Arizona, charged with murdering her own son and then trying to commit suicide. Tucson Police said that, on November 29, Jennifer Jansma used powerful prescription pain killers to kill her son, Jordan Iacovetta, 8, then attempted to take her own life, but she survived.Jansma is a former nanny from the Denver area who used to work for some of Denver's top nanny agencies and used to watch the children of some very prominent families in Denver and Cherry Hills Village.

Babysitter at Fault in Crash That Killed Antioch 10-Year-Old Girl
The live-in babysitter of a 10-year-old girl killed in a traffic collision last week caused the accident by running a red light, Antioch police said today. Police arrested Anaid Hernandez, 22, on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter, driving without a license and driving without insurance in connection with the Nov. 27 collision that killed Turner Elementary fifth-grader Sarai Rivera. Hernandez is free on her own recognizance pending the Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office's review of the case.

Sitter Sentenced for Shaken Baby
A babysitter from Gwinnett County will have to spend 10 years in prison for shaking an infant so violently, the baby was left permanently disabled.Kaniz Jahid will have to serve an additional 10 years on probation for aggravated battery.

Kansas City Babysitter now Indicted for Murder
A Clay County grand jury has indicted a Northland babysitter with second-degree murder, accusing the woman of shaking a 4-month-old infant to death. Melissa Thompson, 36, surrendered to authorities today, a day after a grand jury reviewed the evidence against her and increased the severity of the criminal allegation.

Bond Set For Babysitter Accused of Scalding
A woman accused of scalding a 3-year-old boy as punishment, is held on $100,000 bond this afternoon. 25-year old Chanita Craig is charged with child endangering.

Texas Babysitter Accused of Child Abuse
Kerrville police and Child Protective Services are investigating allegations of child abuse against a private Kerrville babysitter. According to police reports, the father of a 1 1/2-year-old boy became concerned after picking up his son from the babysitter Thursday and discovering several injuries.
