Honduran Babysitter Sought In Death Of Central Texas Toddler
Berny Figueroa, 29, of Brenham is wanted for capital murder in the death of a 2-year-old Central Texas girl. Thegirl was short of breath when her parents picked her up at Figueroa’s home, where the Honduran woman was babysitting the toddler. They took her to Trinity Medical Center where she died a few hours later. "We found her lower intestine was severed from the small intestine," said Brenham Police Detective Lloyd Powell, “which means something significant had to hit her in the stomach area to cause that damage to her." On Friday, police discovered that Figueroa had left the area.
She’s now the focus of a national search.

Florida Man Arrested for Molesting Babysitter
A Ocoee, Florida man was arrested for molesting his a babysitter on Friday. Corwin J. Boggs, 41, is accused of showing the 14-year-old girl explicit material when she came to babysit his son. Police say he then coaxed the girl into posing for nude photos, before molesting her.

Police: Babysitter Admits To Hitting, Swinging Baby
Bail was set at $1 million for 25-year-old Mona Walker on suspicion of felony child abuse.
The baby was taken in critical condition to the hospital Wednesday morning for treatment of head injuries, including a fractured skull. Walker first told police that she tripped over an ottoman while carrying the baby. Police say the baby has several head injuries, including a fractured skull. Walker admitted to punching the baby twice in the face and swinging her into a door. She said she was trying to get the baby to stop crying.

3-Month-old in Critical Condition; Babysitter Arrested
Omaha, NE - A 3-month-old baby girl is in critical condition with head injuries and her babysitter behind bars. Police arrested 25-year-old Mona Walker for felony child abuse. Police say the baby, Lauren Wentz, has numerous head injuries, including a fractured skull.
Police say Walker claims to have tripped over an ottoman while carrying the baby. But police say "the investigation determined that injuries were not consistent with Walker's account but were the result of intentional abusive actions." (see follow up on Friday, March 28)

Canadian Teen Sitter Sentenced for Sex Offences
Of all the sex offenders Judge Michael McKee has dealt with during his years on the bench, the 13-year-old girl in his courtroom Wednesday truly didn't fit the stereotype. The girl, who can't be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was in court for sexual offences committed against a three-year-old girl she was babysitting.

Babysitter Pleads Guilty in Scalding Death
Jamie Lee Wilson pleaded guilty today in the December 2005 scalding death of her two-year-old goddaughter, whom Wilson was babysitting. Wilson, 23, will serve 31 to 40 years in state prison on charges of second-degree murder, child abuse, inflicting serious injury and first-degree kidnapping.

Man Held After Using Belt on Child
Salinas police said they had to use a Taser electronic stun gun on a man Saturday night before they could arrest him for striking a toddler with a belt in public view.
Raul Reyes Vasquez, 36, was at an acquaintance's home in the 1400 block of Del Monte Avenue along with a 2-year-old boy and the child's adult babysitter, police said Sunday. When the babysitter fell asleep, Vasquez took the child from the residence, officers said.

Babysitter Arrested on Suspicion of Child's Injury
A Waco woman who identified herself as a babysitter was arrested Friday after police say she hit a 10-month-old child and threw the girl on the floor, fracturing her skull. Tammy Beckett, 35, was charged with injury to a child after she turned herself in to police shortly before 2 p.m., Waco police spokesman Steve Anderson said.

Police were this morning called to the Lawrence Street weatherboard cottage, which Daniel's mother, Donna Thomas, and Mandy Martin rented together when the toddler was reported missing five years ago.

Family Releases Hidden Video of Nanny in Abuse Case
A father, who secretly taped his nanny while his 5-month-old daughter was in her care, released the video to his local news station. (See video here.) Wesley Locklair, the father of the little girl, set up the hidden camera after watching a report on a cable news channel about nanny abuse. What he saw on the video he recorded after the first day prompted him to report the nanny to law enforcement officials, which opened a criminal investigation into the couple's hired nanny, 60-year-old Cheryl White.

Nanny Sues Former Bosses over Labor Violations
A 69-year-old California woman who spent four years working as a live-in housekeeper and nanny for an Atherton couple filed suit Thursday in federal court against her former employers, alleging that they violated labor laws by working her 14 hours a day, six days a week, and failed to give her the minimum wage, overtime pay or breaks. In her suit, Vilma Serralta says she was paid $1,000 to $1,300 a month to vacuum, mop and dust the 9,300-square-foot home, wash windows, cook, serve meals, hand-wash china and silver, make beds, launder and iron clothes, and bathe, dress and supervise the couple's young daughter.

Police Response Questioned in Sex Assault
After hours of sometimes sexually explicit text-messaging with a woman, a 20-year-old man arrived at the Anoka house where she was baby-sitting on Monday and allegedely sexually assaulted a 2-year-old girl in the woman's care, according to charges filed in Anoka County District Court.

Trial Ordered in Baby's Death
A day care provider from Verona has been ordered to stand trial in the death of a four-month-old boy in her care. Thirty-seven-year-old Jennifer Hancock is charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the September death of Lincoln Wilber. Hancock will also be tried on a charge of abusing the baby last August.

Babysitter Pleads Guilty to Sex Charges
A teenage boy has pleaded guilty to reduced sex charges involving two younger boys he was babysitting. The baby sitter, now 16, pleaded guilty to six counts of gross sexual imposition. He had originally been charged with rape of two boys who were ages 9 and 11 at the time of the alleged crimes.

Convicted Babysitter Headed Back To Court
Elizabeth Noakes has served four months of her one year sentence and now she is asking a judge if she can serve the rest of her time under house arrest. However, there was no decision on whether Elizabeth Noakes will be allowed to serve the rest of her jail sentence under house arrest, but the judge did agree to have her evaluated for the program.

A babysitter accused of shaking and dropping a baby more than a year ago pleaded guilty Monday in St. Lawrence County Court. Heather Hughes, 19, pleaded guilty to criminally negligent homicide, a felony. Hughes admitted to shaking 10-month-old Megen Perham to stop her from crying.

Babysitter Charged with Rape of 6 Year Old Girl
Earlier today, Delaware State Police detectives assigned charged a 27-year-old Kevin P. Phillips with 30 felony charges including first-degree rape and unlawful sexual contact. The investigation began March 2 when the victim’s father took the child to Troop 7 and filed a report of sexual abuse. According to the father, his daughter stated their babysitter, later identified as Phillips, allegedly touched her “privates” and sexually assaulted her numerous times. The alleged incidents occurred at the girl’s home in Lewes.

'06 Child Death Ruled Murder, Sitter Arrested
A year and half investigation into the death of a 15-month-old baby girl in 2006 has led to the arrest of her babysitter, FOX 26 reports. Brandon Roy Vestal is accused of thrownig Brooke Blackerby off a 12-foot-high balcony while he was babysitting the toddler in Hull, Texas. Blackberby was eventually flown via LifeFlight to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where she died a few days later from itnernal injuries.

A 19-year-old upstate woman is being charged with causing the death of a 10-month-old girl she was baby-sitting in February 2007. St. Lawrence County sheriff's investigators say Heather Hughes of Colton caused the death of Megen Perham by shaking and dropping the infant. The death has been under investigation since an autopsy showed that the baby had suffered a skull fracture and bleeding on the brain.
