Doctor Disputes Baby-Sitter's Version of Tot's Injuries
A Mount Olive baby-sitter accused of assaulting an 11-month-old boy told police she accidentally dropped the child twice while he was having a seizure, but the doctor who treated him said her version is "completely inconsistent" with the child's injuries, according to an arrest affidavit made public yesterday.
Khac Tam Nguyen, 31, was charged Friday with aggravated assault and child endangerment for causing the child head trauma, which has left him in critical condition. He suffered multiple skull fractures and bleeding in the brain and had to undergo emergency surgery, according to the affidavit.

Police: Parents Catch Nanny Abusing Their Son On Tape
Detectives in Georgia arrested a 23-year-old nanny after the parents of a child produced a video tape showing alleged abuse, authorities said.Detectives arrested Constance Smith of Rockmart Thursday.
Officials said Smith was charged after the parents of a 13-month-old boy reported they had a video of Smith slapping their child in the face, pushing the child to the ground and pinching the child on the leg. The family said they recently began videotaping their living room due to concerns they had about their son's behavior. Death of 2 Year Old Alton Boy under Investigation
Alton police are investigating the death of a 2 year old boy as a suspicious death. The child, Max Eyer, died after midnight at St. Anthony’s Hospital. Police say the child was with a 26 year old babysitter in Alton.

Pair Arrested for Putting Child in Trunk
Lufkin police arrested a Diboll man and woman at Lufkin Mall Wednesday after a family saw the pair put a 7-year-old girl in the trunk of a car and drive off. LPD spokesman Lt. David Young said the incident was not kidnapping but an attempt by the child's babysitter to punish the girl for misbehaving. Officers arrested Wendy Lea Carroll, 30, and Joseph Daniel McGuire, 35, in the parking lot of Lufkin Mall after a witness called 9-1-1.

Dallas Boy Accidentally Shoots Twin Brother
A five-year old boy in Dallas is on the mend and in good condition after being accidentally shot by his twin brother. The boys were at their babysitter's home when the shooting took place. Tiffany Bates says the boys were left with her husband and a friend. At some point, the men left the two children alone. Dallas Police say that's when they found the gun and started playing with it.

N.J. Babysitter Faces Sex Assault Charges
A Williamstown woman is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy she was babysitting, police said Thursday.Christine Sigall, 32, was arrested Dec. 11, when the boy's mother reported the allegation to police, Monroe Detective Gene Sulzbach said.

Court Reverses Babysitter's Conviction in Infant's Death
A state appeals court has reversed the conviction of a 37-year-old woman in the death of a baby she was caring for at her home six years ago. Stephanie Bartok of Gillespie had been charged with first-degree murder in the death of 8-month-old Andrew Hostettler. But Macoupin County Circuit Judge Joseph Koval ruled in December 2005 that the babysitter was guilty of a lesser charge, involuntary manslaughter.

Teenage Babysitter Accused of Raping 7-Year-Old Boy
A 17-year-old baby sitter is free on 150,000 dollars bond after she was accused of raping a 7-year-old boy. Police in NC say Alecya Patriece Tabb was looking after the boy at his home about a month ago when the incident occurred. She is charged with first-degree rape and statutory rape. She was held in the Wake County jail before posting bond.

Baby Left in Car While Sitter is in The Bar
An 18-month-old baby is being watched by his grand parents Sunday night -- after being left alone in a car for at least a half hour overnight. Suffolk County police say two women found the baby while his babysitter and her boyfriend were in a bar in Bay Shore.
Police have arrested a Long Island woman, Ruth Campos and her boyfriend on charges of leaving an infant in a car while they went into a bar. The child's mother left the baby with Campos while visiting relatives in upstate New York.

FBI agents arrested an island man at his home on Tom Nevers Road early Tuesday morning and charged him with federal mail fraud related to an alleged scheme to defraud his former employer, American International Group, Inc., of more than $1 million.

Cops: Babysitter Helps 3-year-old Smoke Pot
An 18-year-old River Rouge man has been charged with child abuse after authorities say he helped a 3-year-old boy smoke what appeared to be a marijuana-type cigarette and videotaped it. Felipe Francisco Garcia was arraigned Thursday on a second-degree child abuse charge. It carries up to four years in prison. The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press say Garcia was baby-sitting in early December and handed the boy an object that resembled a marijuana "blunt." Police say Garcia, a friend of the child's mother, says the object was a cigar.

Child Molester Sentenced to 15 Years
A 50-year-old DeKalb County man convicted of molesting a 3-year-old girl received a sentence of 15 years in prison Tuesday for aggravated sodomy and child molestation.Roberto Hackett, of Stone Mountain, was found guilty of the crimes earlier this month. Prosecutors said Hackett was a family friend and frequent babysitter of the victim.

Ex-Hawaii Family Awarded $2 Million in Infant's Death
A former Honolulu military couple has won a $2 million judgment against the babysitter responsible for their child's death in 2004. The babysitter, Shawna Akin, left 13-month-old Aslyn Ryan unattended in a hot car in February 2004, then lied and concealed facts about the baby's heat stroke when she called emergency medical personnel at Hickam Air Force Base, according to a lawsuit filed by the baby's parents, Timothy and Deona Ryan.

Quebec Babysitter Sentenced For Corrupting Minors
SHERBROOKE, Que. - A babysitter accused of inducing minors in her care to take drugs, drink alcohol and participate in lewd acts was sentenced Monday to 18 months in jail.
The 35-year-old is alleged to have committed the acts between December 2006 and April 2007. "The gestures and their repitition suggests a depravity on the part of the accused," said Quebec court Judge Conrad Chapdelaine in rendering sentence. A nanny accused of shaking an infant so severely he suffered blindness posted a $20,000 cash bond Thursday and was freed from jail. Rebecca L. Harris, 21, of O'Fallon, Mo., is charged with second-degree assault in what authorities said was the shaking of 4-month-old Kaleb Wakefield at the baby's home in St. Peters on Oct. 26.

Boy Shot in the Leg at Babysitter's Home
A 12-year-old boy was shot in the leg at his babysitter's home in northwest Miami-Dade County.Police said they got conflicting accounts of what happened when they arrived at the scene. Anthony Estrada said he received a call from a woman who was watching his son, Emeny. She said her son had shot himself in the leg and Estrada should come pick up his son.

Babysitter Suzanne Holdsworth, 37, from Hartlepool, is serving life for allegedly smashing Kyle's head against a banister with a force akin to a 60mph car crash. A mother who who had worked as a nanny in Denver has been arrested in Arizona, charged with murdering her own son and then trying to commit suicide. Tucson Police said that, on November 29, Jennifer Jansma used powerful prescription pain killers to kill her son, Jordan Iacovetta, 8, then attempted to take her own life, but she survived.Jansma is a former nanny from the Denver area who used to work for some of Denver's top nanny agencies and used to watch the children of some very prominent families in Denver and Cherry Hills Village.
