UTICA - A man accused of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl he was babysitting took the stand during a hearing Wednesday in Oneida County Court. It was an evidence suppression hearing where defense attorneys try to keep certain evidence from being admitted at trial.
In this case, it was a recorded, 'controlled' phone call during which Chicherchia allegedly admitted the abuse to the child's mother.
Babysitter To Be Released From Prison
A babysitter who left a baby boy inside a hot car back in 1999, killing the child, is expected to be released from prison Thursday. 11-month-old Bryan Puckett died in July 1999 when Karen Murphy left him in the hot car in a Lexington store parking lot. His parents went on a national crusade that resulted in the passing of Kentucky's "Bryan's Law." Now when a child dies in a hot car the person responsible faces a manslaughter charge and the possibility of ten years in prison.
Babysitter Charged After Child put on Roof
Hennepin County prosecutors allege a babysitter from Minneapolis put a 6-year-old girl on a second-story roof and wouldn't let her back inside.They also claim in charges filed Tuesday that a witness saw 19-year-old Vanessa E. Sparks dangling an infant out of the window of a two-story Minneapolis apartment. The criminal complaint says the 6-year-old crawled back inside and told police she was let back in by her sister.Sparks is charged with two counts of endangerment of a child, a gross misdemeanor.
