Woman to Serve Year for Daycare Death
Yesterday's judgment comes a year and seven days after Noah Alexander Colassaco was found fatally injured at Elizabeth P. Noakes' home in a subdivision just south of Providence Elementary School. The boy died in a freak accident after he poked his head between the top of his crib and a cardboard divider that Noakes had placed over it and weighed down with a 32-pound metal dog crate folded flat. Noakes, who watched other children in her home for several years, testified at her June 25 trial that she placed the items on top of the crib to deter the boy from standing up and crying or making noise during nap time. She said she carefully tested and balanced the items so they wouldn't fall or cause the child any distress.

Live-In Babysitter Charged with Murder
A live-in babysitter is charged with two counts of murder, in the death of a three-month-old child. Police arrested 30-year-old Jesse Edwards for the death of Carlito Ortiz. Police say that about two weeks ago, the infant stopped breathing as Edwards was giving him a bath. Eight days later, the boy died. Medical experts who've reviewed the case say Ortiz's brain injuries are consistent with shaken baby syndrome.

Babysitter Charged With Felony Neglect
One 3-year-old boy riding a bicycle weaved in and out of traffic while being chased by adults trying to stop him Monday on North Tennessee Boulevard, a Murfreesboro Police officer reported.A witness told police she saw the child almost struck by oncoming traffic, Officer David Blackwell reported.Police rescued the child and charged sleeping babysitter Douglas Wayne Brown, 27, of 1524 Rochester Drive with felony child abuse and neglect, the officer reported. Baby Death Jury Can't Decide
Over the past two months, a Placer County jury has heard two very different explanations of what happened to 15-month-old Hannah Rose Juceam. Prosecutors used medical experts and testimony from the dead girl's parents to point the finger at defendant Veronica Martinez Salcedo, the 36-year-old nanny accused of violently shaking Hannah, causing her death.

A Loudon (New Hampshire) woman in prison for a truck crash that killed a 10-year-old girl will stay there for at least another five years.
Nancy Lamprey's pickup slammed into a tree in Loudon in September 2000, killing Katie Silva and hurting five other children. The kids were in the covered back of the truck and said Lamprey was swerving on a dirt road to amuse them. (Read more.)

A family trusted 15-year old babysitter to take care of their little boy, but instead deputies say she sexually assaulted the six-year-old.
Brittany Veres is accused of performing oral sex on the boy while she was babysitting.
Reports say the victim was asked "if Brittany's mouth touched his peeper" and the boy said yes.

A Norfolk, Nebraska, teen charged with sexually assaulting two girls he was babysitting will be tried as an adult.16-year old Adam Underwood waived his right to a preliminary hearing and has been bound over to district court. His next appearence in court will be his arraignment on October 29th.Underwood is accused of sexually assaulting two pre-school aged girls while baby sitting them in March. Nanny Firm Sued by Family of Slain Texas Toddler
The family of a 14-month-old TExas boy who died in his nanny's care in 2005 filed a lawsuit Tuesday against the north Oak Cliff service that provided her. Lawyers for the family of Kyle Lazarchik said his nanny, Ada Fernandez, beat him to death by repeatedly slamming his head against a kitchen cabinet door.
Fernandez was convicted of capital murder last year and sentenced to life in prison without parole. Her lawyers said the injuries were caused when Kyle fell off the kitchen counter and the next day hit his head against a door frame. (Read More.)

Florida Babysitter Charged with Murdering 2-Year-Old Girl
A woman was charged with murdering a 2-year-old girl she was caring for by hitting her so hard that she fell and cracked her head open. Tyra L. Williams, 29, confessed to hitting the girl in anger, but other injuries also point to sexual abuse, said police spokesman Lt. Robert Voss. Florida Babysitter sentenced to 20 Years
A woman accused of abusing two children she was babysitting is sentenced to 20 years in prison and 10 years probation.
Charity Sato, 23, pleaded guilty to four counts of lewd and lascivious behavior last month. She's accused of using a sex toy on an 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl she was babysitting.

A Halifax-area woman convicted of sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy she was babysitting had a good reason for not showing up for her sentencing Friday.

Las Vegas Child Seen on Video Tape Was in Care of Sitter When Rape Took Place
Attorney Jerry Donohue called the woman "a typical American single mother" who worked six days a week and was "trying to be 'supermom.'"
